Still Life - NaPoWriMo Day 3

Lying still beneath the tree
having fallen there, as you see
petals — pink, red, blue, leaves green
upon the grass with blades, up, between

This stillness slowly begins to stir
as air surrounding starts to whisper
a tickle of movement as petals, leaves lift
setting some, not all, adrift

A dance begins — set in motion
as if to reflect the trees spirit — one notion
spinning like a dervish in their place
no hesitation, embodiment of grace

The grass blades sway, the tree shimmers
from one perspective — two mirrors
the stillness returns to take her place
as it all settles, calming, opening this space

If your eyes could not bear witness
imagine a scene that had never been
the world may need our forgiveness
to ensure that we all — each and every one — are seen.
