First…

Starting might be the hardest part. Getting past the voice that says that if it doesn’t come out exactly right, just so, already edited is really about starting. I’m certainly not the first person to observe this. In fact, I have a suspicion that just about everyone who has ever hesitated to make something happen, and then fulfilled what it was that they (eventually) set out to do, can look back and say, ah, yeah. Starting was really the hard part.”

Not necessarily the most challenging part. Not necessarily even the most painful part. But I think the hardest. For it’s not difficulty that we bristle against it’s the idea of failure. It’s not work. It’s the feeling of uncertainty. Because right on the other side of starting is uncertainty. And it’s within uncertainty that we find what we’re looking for.

Funny these things - when we find ourselves saying the things that we want need to hear.
