What makes a commitment? Here’s what the Google dictionary has to say about it:

com mit ment: 1: the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc.
2: an engagement or obligation that restricts freedom of action.

I raise this because I was telling a new acquaintance today about this little project…you know the one were I write a blog post a day (save Saturdays). Except, I haven’t done that…I’ve hit most days, but not all by a long shot. She mentioned that she was impressed by what it is I’m doing. That most wouldn’t be able to pull it off.

I find myself asking myself if I’m really committed to this, even though I’m not doing it” based on the rules I created. And I find myself using the days I don’t do it to take myself out.

I’m finding myself wanting to hold a different orientation: toward what I am doing. My commitment to posting here, to writing, to learning about myself and how I interact with the world, is why I’m here. And so, here it is, another post. One in front of the other. That’s what matters.
