The Big Dark
That’s what they are calling this series of weather events here in the Seattle area. Lots of clouds and rain. The oncoming early sunsets, of course, contribute. It’s amusing to me that they need to brand a week where loads of weather will be happening. Of course, weather is always happening. It’s just that folks at the National Weather Service seem to feel the need to get in on our culture’s need to brand everything.
Thing is, when we begin to name everything — to give a definition to every little thing — we dilute the actual experience. Perhaps that’s the real “big dark,” our inability to see what is right in front of us.
