Lineage - NaPoWriMo Day 11

There are so many ways that our ancestors live in, with, and between. Expressions of their combined and unique selves — through us, by us, in ways we hardly recognize. The curl of a lip, a breath, the gait, muscles clenching. Of course, this us is the us of disconnection. Of severing. For our ties to lineage have been — largely — sacrificed at the altar of being here, in this place. Our ancestors seek healing in the reaching in and back, learning to love the place we caome from, and reaching out, learning to love the places that all people know as home. Their land. Their culture. Their people. For in true belonging, there is no sacrifice.
