improve

Almost every time this I’ve thought I should stay quiet,” and then I add something to a conversation, the thought was right. One of my favorite principles comes from the Quakers: only speak if doing so will improve upon the silence. I’m terrible at this, but long to live by it. The silence has so much to tell us. So much to say. Listening to it is so challenging, especially in our world that is so full of noise.
